Safety Policy
It is the responsibility of every Manager and Executive to ensure that operations are carried out safely preventing injury to persons and damage to property. The company is committed to providing a safe working environment and will make available the necessary resources for the purpose. Every employee of the company will be educated, trained, encouraged and motivated to implement this policy on safety.

Madura Coats regards the promotion of health and safety as a common objective for Management and Employees at all levels and is committed to ensuring the health and safety at work of all Employees and of other persons who may be impacted by the operations of the company.

The company will :

  • provide and maintain plant and system of work that are safe and without risk to health.
  • make suitable arrangement for ensuring safety and absence of risk to health, in connection with the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances
  • maintain all places of work in a condition that is safe and without risk to health, in particular the provision of safe means of access to, and egress from, all such workplaces.
  • provide and maintain a working environment that is safe, without risk to health and adequate as regards facilities and arrangments for the welfare of employees at work.
  • provide safety equipment necessary to ensure the health and safety of employees where it is not reasonably practical to eliminate the hazard at source and train employees in the use of such equipment.
  • instruct all employees that personal protective equipment, machine guards and safe systems of work once provided will be used and ensure through effective supervision that their use is maintained.

It is acceped that training can contribute significantly to the setting and maintenance of proper health and safety standards.

Communication and consultation at all levels in the organisation will take place to ensure that health and safety standards aremaintained and improvedwhere considered necessary.

The company will review on a regular basis reports on helath and safety matters and monitor the performance of all units in the company. Managers of units where the accident frequency is high, or where there is a single serious incident will be expected to provide a full report and explanation as well as a specific action plan to ensure avoidance of the accident or incident in future.

The company will ensure tha this policy statement is regularly reviewed and amended as necessary, in order to meet changing conditions.
